Oh this weekend was just so special and memorable in so many ways that I wanted to document it so I won't forget these moments!
The kids are at such a FUN age for things like this! Each of the older 4 girls have excellent teachers that took time to make the mothers something special. I got a precious bookmark, some really cute cards, and they filled out questions about their mama. These personal gifts filled my cup today!!
Friday night the whole family went to Lynn Meadows for an after-hours birthday party. All the kids had a blast!
Saturday morning after breakfast my friend Rebecca and I got the whole morning out together! We enjoyed some treats from local coffee shop, wandered the Ocean Springs farmer's market, and strolled through shops that we would never bring our kids to! Then we headed to lunch. We enjoyed lunch at Bacchus on the Bayou and listened to live music on the back porch. It was so nice!! I couldn't help but reflect at how I had prayed so intentionally for true friends - the kind that were committed to loving their husbands and raising their kids with a firm foundation in Christ. It brings tears to my eyes to be able to point to how God has answered my prayers through several strong friendships with incredible women around me!
We headed back to Gulfport and picked up the twins from a birthday party at IMMS. They were so bubbly when we picked them up that it was one of the highlights of my day (and that really says something, because up to that point my day had already been idyllic!) A few hours after we got home, I loaded the car again and headed with the big 4 girls to the beach! The birthday girl from earlier in the day was having a family bonfire at the beach just south of our house. We joined them and again it just made me so happy to see Dakota and Kiley playing so freely in the sand with their friend. I wish I had gotten some photos in action because I am afraid my memory of that image will fade. Aside from that I loved getting to know her family, including her grandmother! The weather was just perfect with a great breeze. The s'mores didn't go perfectly, but honestly that's part of what I loved about the night!
Sunday morning started with Daddy's breakfast, like usual. I cherish this Sunday morning tradition that Jason makes a big special breakfast every Sunday morning! Jason had brought the kids to Rouse's (YES all 6 kids by himself to the GROCERY STORE!?) and they picked out some coffee and some chocolate for me. <3 So sweet!
We went to 9:00 am mass. I sat in the cry room with Tucker and Maggie. It wasn't smooth sailing in there, but the thought that kept coming to mind was just how incredibly special it is to attend mass with all 6 of my beautiful children. I told them several times that all I want for Mother's Day from now on is to attend mass with them (or for them to attend mass wherever they are if that isn't possible!)
We grabbed some doughnuts after mass, then drove out to Pass Christian Yacht Club to join Brian, Ellie, their three kids, and Genevieve and Wayne for a special Mother's Day brunch. Again, the view, the food, the environment, the people, everything was perfect! (Almost) Everyone's behavior was up to expectations... However, it helps to have very low expectations... That didn't get in the way of how special the brunch was and it really made it a special day.
From there Jason went to adoration with Evelyn and Nora, and I took the little ones home for a nap and played a game with Dakota and Kiley. For most of the rest of the day we just played outside and spent time together. At some point, the girls decorated a cookie cake for me. I was very impressed with their design concept and the execution!
After dinner we did our Sunday night family rosary. Again it struck me how incredible it is to be surrounded by all of my biggest blessings and coming together in prayer. Just so you don't get a false picture of what our family prayer looks like... one of the best parts of tonight was Tucker... The lights are off and we have one candle lit... Tucker stood in front of the candle and mimicked the flame dancing. He was murmuring under his breath, "Left, right, wiggle wiggle, Left, Right!" Oh gosh we all got tickled by it. Such a sweet moment full of holy laughter. I know God was giggling too!I thanked each of them for making my day so special. It really filled my cup and made me feel refreshed and appreciated! Now it is 10:30 and Tucker is still awake, so I am going to go snuggle with my buddy and hope he falls asleep quickly!!
