Like a good wife....

Tonight was the first night I cooked something for Jason that didn't already come in a bag. By his request I made a favorite from my childhood....spaghetti and beans! We made it a little different, but it tasted better than I remember!
My mom used to make this for me when I stayed home from school sick because I was the only other one in the family who liked it. It was our special treat.
I kept thinking about that song "The Good Stuff," when he talks about "eating burnt suppers the whole first year, and asking for seconds to keep her from tearing up..." I was quite scared that would be Jason tonight, but it turned out ok, aside from the tomato sauce splatters on the ceiling...

Official Residency and Power Tools

Yesterday Jason and I went to the TN DMV. After waiting for 3 hours we finally got processed! I got my name changed and a new TN license with my new address, and Jason became a TN resident. Although it was an incredibly long wait, the people were actually really nice and helpful. Overall a pleasant experience. Especially because I remembered my Kindle and I am really into my book.

Then we spent a ton of time going to Target and Bed Bath and Beyond and finishing up our registry. That took so long that we could barely carry it all to the apartment from the car when we got home.

One of our favorite things we got at Target is a power drill! We were instantly glad we did because so many of the things we bought needed to be assembled. That kept Jason busy most of the day since I was at my orientation for my new school district. I got lots and lots of information about all kinds of insurance and benefits and rules and regulations...
But look what I saw when I got lost on the way! They already named a road after us and we haven't even been here a week!

So tonight after a huge trip to Kroger (approximately 2 minutes away!!), we set to work on 2 projects. Jason put together a storage/bench for our bedroom, while I worked on organizing the guest bathroom and getting it ready for our first guest!

This is hanging in the guest bathroom... it's a gift from  Danny Brough
We ended the night with a frozen drink made in our new Ninja! It's so much fun using all of our wedding gifts!

We have friends!

Today was another productive day!
We started by going to our underwhelming work out facility in our apartment complex.
After being disappointed by the DMV being closed on Mondays, we went to my new school to check out my classroom. It was also to clear out a few boxes that we had laying around our apartment destined for school. When we got there.. they were expecting us! I shouldn't be surprised because I know they hired me, but I was so pleased that the secretary and book keeper knew who I was and what I was doing there!

It was great to show Jason my school- and thank God he was there because I needed him to get my boxes inside! The former teacher left a lot of materials so I am excited to start digging through them and figuring out all I need! We will start organizing that once we feel more settled in our apartment. I will post pictures once I feel more settled in the classroom! I already have big plans!

After getting more things unpacked in our apartment, Jason and I went to a mexican restaurant for my dear friend, Maggie Drennan's birthday. We have been good friends since high school. It was wonderful to meet a bunch of her friends from college (she is in nursing school at UT), and it was so nice of her to invite us. I am so glad that she will be in Knoxville for the next year! Can't wait to spend time with her this year!
And we have friends!

Moving To Knoxville

We have had a whirlwind summer!
It started in April when Jason got accepted into Physician's Assistant School at South College in Knoxville, TN. In May he moved to Gulfport to continue working his job as an Orthopedic Sales Rep, while I finished up my first school year as a teacher in Brandon, MS.
When the school year was over, I moved to Memphis to help my mom organize Catholic Heart Workcamp in the beginning of June. Then we spent the next three weeks putting the finishing touches on the wedding.
July 2, 2011 we became Mr. and Mrs. Jason Caswell. The wedding was perfect, the reception was a blast. We drove to Jackson and stayed with our friend Mike, who drove us to the airport so we could fly out to Jamaica in the morning. After a week in paradise, we reluctantly returned back to the states.
Jason spent a week training his replacement at work, then we drove to Memphis to welcome our new niece, Avery, into the world! We spent a few days there then FINALLY arrived at our new home in Knoxville.

Our first night in Knoxville we had only a few boxes and a suitcase to unpack. We slept on an air mattress in the future dining room. Halfway through the night, the air mattress was about 50% deflated (of course!). We woke up ready to tackle the world of boxes!
A moving company brought us a full load to fill up our apartment. Right now it seems more like Mary Poppins bag! I can't believe this space can hold so much.
So far our bedroom and closet are unpacked, and only lacking decorations on the walls.
The guest room/office is ALMOST ready for visitors.
The living room and dining room is... a work in progress.

Tonight Jason cooked an amazing dinner. It had tender chicken cooked on our new George Foreman Grill and eaten with our new knife set and silverware set, broccoli served in our new Pyrex set, drinks served in our new Tervis Tumblers, chips and salsa served on our new serving ware, all eaten from our new dinner plates.
This entire beautiful meal was eaten sitting on the floor off of an old coffee table, surrounded by half unpacked boxes. These are the memories I will treasure forever! I love being a newlywed!!
